사람이 집안에 살도록 구상하신 분은 하나님이시다. 아버지의 큰 집은 에덴에서 시작되었다. 이 집은 동산,장막,초막,성막,처소,성전(고전3:16) 등으로 불려진다.
집 주인은 집안의 평강을 위해 법을 정하여 다스린다. 법을 벗어나는 것이 출가 즉 집을 떠남이다. 돌보심 밖이라고 하신다.(히8:9)
원수들은 법을 벗어나도록 유혹하여 결국은 집을 떠나게한다.(시2:3) 집을 싫어하고 떠나게하려는 유혹에 흔들리지 말자. 육신의 집을 떠나는 것을 일반적으로 죽음이라 했고, 집 주인은 잠자는 것이라 했다.
지구를 떠나는 것을 사람들은 천국 가는 것이라 하고, 집 주인은 기업을 잃는 것이라 한다. 온유한 자가 땅을 기업으로 받는다고 하셨다.(마5:5)
집 주인은 집 나간 자녀가 돌아오기를 매일 기다린다.(눅15:32) 집에 돌아오는 자는 집 밖의 삶에 대해서는 죽었고, 다시 태어나서 산다. 돌아온 탕자에게는 새 집, 새 옷이 제공된다.(눅15:22)
공동체의 집을 도성 혹은 나라라고 한다. 관계측면에서는 새로운 관계로서 집주인의 아들 혹은 왕의 아들의 신부들로서 결혼한다. 이 연합의 완성, 대성회를 잔치로 표현한다.
원수가 진을 치던 공중에서(살전4:17, meet the Lord in the air) 왕의 아들이 준비한 식탁에서 먹고 마시게 된다.(눅22:30) 이는 최후의 만찬 자리에서 약속하신 것의 성취이다.(눅22:16,18) 원수 앞에서 받는 내 잔이 넘치는 순간을 사모한다.
도성에 합당하지 않은 사람들은 제 때에 소출을 바치지 않는 소작인들이라고도 표현한다. 도성 안의 땅을 기업으로 못 받고 쫓겨나면 성밖의 쓰레기 장으로 가는데, 이곳은 불이 꺼지지 않는다. 구더기도 죽지 않는 그곳이 어디인지는 몰라도 그 곳은 사람을 위하여 예비된 곳이 아니고 마귀와 그 사자들을 위하여 예비된 곳이다. (마25:41) 이 원수들을 따라가는 자들도 그 곳으로 간다고 한다.
나는 오늘도 이런 소망으로, ‘하나님 나라와 그의 의를 먼저 구하라’고 하신 말씀에 순종하며 산다.

이들이 모여 하나님 나라를 이룬다.
거처, 장막을 먼저 준비하시고 그 안에 거주할 존재를 만드셨다.
빛이 장막이고 해,달,별이 거주하게하셨다. 궁창이 장막이고 궁창 위에는 새들이 거주하고 궁창 아래에는 물고기들이 거주한다. 땅이 장막이고 짐승,풀,나무가 거주한다.
이 모든 것 전체가 장막이고 우리 인간이 거주한다.
동일하게 사람들이 장막이 되고 하나님이 거주하실 것이니 잘 지어져 가야한다고 하신다.
구약에서는 예루살렘이 장막이고 이스라엘 백성이 거주자가 되었다. 이제 새 예루살렘이 지어질 것인데 그 곳에는 교회와 이스라엘과 하나님께서 다 함께 연합하여 거주한다.
