let us eat, and be merry

let us eat, and be merry!

And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in your sight, and am no more worthy to be called your son. But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: And bring here the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry. (Luk15:21~24)

Dressing the best robe symbolizes acceptance as a son; putting a ring confers the status of heirs; Wearing shoes empowers him to get involved in the household, and feasting is an external reminder. The kingdom of God restores us to a place of honor as its people and allows us to actually live a life of honor. Although Abraham was a man of many human faults, God raised Abraham to honor and blessed him to live in honor. ^^ Paul Shin
